The first thing comes in my mind for KKR's illness is "Make DADA Coach Cum Captain". But this is very unlikely in this version of IPL where one can believe Dada will take this offer. The very next option is to provide a manual for coaching in India to John Buchanan at the earliest possible because SRK seems to be so obsessed with foreign coach specially John Buchanan that he not going to ask John to resign. Instead, the only thing left is to provide John a manual for coaching an Indian Cricket Team in India.
The coaching manual may be something like this.
Do's
- Do give due respect to the existing captain when you join a team in India.
- Do understand the emotions of the local fans and supporters of the team because they are the soul of the entire team which the players playing for
- Do understand the Indian mind set which is Slow But Steady Wins The Race
- Do understand experience does matter in our part of the world. Right mix of experience and youth is the key.
- Do read the sport sections of the local news papers where you get to know and understand the current vibes of the local sports and its supporters for which the sport is alive.
- Do a detailed research on the true replacements of the aged player and then discuss that with the whole team and local sports authority.
- Do understand the climate and soil condition of the grounds and based on that judge the fitness and endurance levels of the local players including the senior players who apparently looks lazy and less active on the field.
- Do focus more on the technical part of the cricket then other fancy and news breaking things.
- Do try to keep things transparent, except game strategies for the individual matches.
Dont's
- Dont come with exciting ground breaking theories from the very initial years of coaching.
- Dont give too much emphasis on fitness than class, form and performance. They are also important in sports, specially cricket.
- Dont bring too much support staff from abroad. Get local experts in these areas.
- Dont ignore the local media and supporters emotions or else the team gets demotivated by their protests.
- Dont spread rumours and negative comments about the local media, supporters and in certain cases, players as well.
- Dont depend on laptops too much because end of the day captain has to run the show on the field based on the circumstances.
- Dont keep good in-form players in the reserve bench for too long whom you paid so much for their past performances.
- Dont depend too much on foreign players because they are not very familiar with the team and the atmosphere compared to local players.
Wish this manual will help John Buchanan.
