Mount TamalpaisI love hiking and thus this article popped up in my mind like out of blue. This might be an article which is related to our extreme experience in hiking, fundraising, entertainment as well as some topics related to the causes of breast cancer will also be discussed. Experiencing the majestic redwoods and coastal views of the Marin Headlands first-hand while making new friends on the trail, raising funds for the organization and having some light entertainment with food and music seems so well and perfect for Sunday! Me and my friends carpooled together and thus started at 7:15 AM. We were planned to meet the other group at Mt Tamalpais where we suppose to sign-in and go for the hike.    Mt. Tamalpais is located at the north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, which has about 6,300 acres of redwood groves, oak woodlands, grassland slopes, chaparral and rocky ridges. It has spectacular views of the nearby Pacific and the surrounding San Francisco Bay Area, from its ridges, slopes and the 2,571-foot high, East Peak.  This place also includes the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, Marin County Open Space District, Marin Municipal Water District, Muir Woods National Monument, Audubon Canyon Ranch, and smaller privately held lands, that is estimated to cover nearly 25,000 acres.  Mt Tamalpais is home to seventy-three species of plants found nowhere else in Marin County. Mt Tamalpais State Park offers a wealth of activities, including picnicking, California nature study, historic landmarks, hiking, biking, tent camping, horseback riding, group camping, overnight cabins, and with close by beaches for sunbathing and a dip, a tidal lagoon offering kayaking, as well as surfing in or just bordering the park, activities abound!

Now a little about the organization! In response to the public health crisis of breast cancer, the Breast Cancer Fund identifies and advocates for elimination of the environmental and other preventable causes of the disease.  Founded in 1992, the Breast Cancer Fund works from the knowledge that breast cancer is not simply a personal tragedy, but a public health priority that demands action from all. We will put a glance on the causes of Breast cancer a little later! The Breast Cancer Fund has a long tradition of organizing challenging, inspiring events to support their work. How do I come to know about this hike? I am a member of BayareaHikigGirls team which conducts hikes on weekdays and weekends and I usually go for 3 hours hike on weekends (Saturday/Sunday) twice a month as it is gives me a boost to perform well during the working days! I feel fresh and peace in mind. This also takes care of my calories and whatever damn things I eat! So the leader of my BayareaHikingGirls team mailed us and we register with this organization along with few friends. We recruited 13 people and raised few bucks! Hey we really got some $$ apart from Lehman's fallout! Boohoo! So we all were excited for a seven mile hike on Mt Tamalpais!Rancho San Antonio

Thus, getting into the car taking the road map, we were there near Mill Valley. Everything seemed so perfect but suddenly we were cursed! We took a wrong path unknowingly and thus got lost! At times we felt as if we will never reach the correct spot! Communications via Cell phone, Blackberry and iPhone were not available because of low signal around that place. It was almost 2 hours and we were still not at the spot. The other team waited for us till 9:40 and some left for home and some went hiking. My other friends were also into different car and were lost. But both the parties had no idea of where we all were! Terrified enough tired of map and the GPS was not very co-operating that day. None of the address was found. Later we asked at the gas station and took the way to Muir Woods to reach the hike spot. Damn! We reached there at 10:30 AM and all were gone! So two of us decided to go for a hike and come by soon scaring to get lost in the woods! Somehow, the rest of the day was too good as we enjoyed the food, music and received goody bags for our contribution. Later we all went for a Pakistani restaurant for a hearty lunch!

Stay with me to hear more about the causes of Breast Cancer and how cosmetics made of chemicals can cause this disease in women!

Exciting and adventurous. Simply this 2 words came in my mind after reading this article. Hope I cud have arranged a similar thing here in India with proper planning so that we do not loose precious time and other friends by getting lost in the wild ...though these kind of experience increase the thrill and adventure.
